White Friday: how to tell a real discount from a fake one
White Friday in November is one of the best times to buy in Saudi Arabia, especially electronics and home appliances. It's also the season of "discounts" that save you nothing. These simple steps protect you.
1. Make your list now
Write down what you actually need before the sales start and set a maximum price for each item. The biggest loss in this season is buying things you didn't need because they were "on sale".
2. Track prices before the season
- Save the products you want to your wish list and watch their prices over the coming weeks.
- If the price goes up before the season and then "drops" on sale day to its old price, that's not a discount.
- Compare the "price before discount" shown with the price you actually saw earlier.
3. Compare more than one store
Search for the same model (by exact model number, not just the name) on Amazon, Noon, the official agent's site and big retailers. Sometimes the difference is large, and sometimes the agent's price is better with a clearer warranty.
4. Watch the seller, not just the platform
- On big marketplaces several sellers offer the same product. Prefer items sold and shipped by the store itself, or a seller with a high rating and many reviews.
- Check the return policy and warranty before paying, especially for electronics.
- Beware of counterfeit versions of famous brands at very low prices.

These categories usually see the strongest discounts: small electronics (earbuds, smartwatches), small kitchen appliances, robot vacuums, fragrances and tablets. It's also a good time to get ready early for winter and the coming Ramadan.
